NEWEST CHANGES:

  • Competitive teams, take a look at the course map on the website listed below, you will have one surprise challenge towards the end of the race and you'll hate us for it but love bragging about it at work later - you're welcome.
  • Fun run teams can be made up of multiples of 2 runners - 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, ... 100. Our largest fun run team last year had 16 runners and they stayed together for the whole race.  
  • Single runners - we will not have a race for single runners but if register online for the fun run, we will place you on a team that wants you or place you in a group of misfits so you can run the race. :)  This event requires at least 2 runners to participate so that you can complete the buddy carry, wheel barrow race, sack hop, etc.
  • We can't afford chip timing this year so we'll be using timers aka stop watches and a computer to track competitive team times.

4th Annual Marine Mud Challenge: teams of 4 compete together in the third running of this event.  Teams should be uniform in their appearance and will remain together for the duration of the entire challenge.  This event is a fundraiser to support non-profit agencies that provide direct assistance to the families of the Marines and Sailors who have been injured in the line of duty and for families of local Marines.  100% of funds raised are donated to our causes. Big change this year: For competitive teams, your race time will be based on when you register your team.  Teams will be grouped into 10 teams to start the race, the 1st 10 teams to register online will leave the starting line first, the next 10 registered online will start next, etc.  We will have chip timing again this year but if you want an open or relatively open race course, sign up ASAP to reserve your place in the starting line up.  After the competitive teams complete the race and we issue awards, we'll begin the fun run.  All fun runners will begin at the same time.

This event will include the following challenges so please start training now (each year this event is held, it will continue to get tougher and tougher:)

  • 10 two count push-ups by direction along with a few side straddle hops, start race, 
  • 10yd duck walk off the starting line, run,
  • 25yds of lunges, run .5 miles,
  • 50yd duck walk, run,
  • 10 squat thrusts, 25 side straddle hops, run, water station,
  • more obstacles and challenges - they'll be surprises,
  • rope obstacles between trees, run off road,
  • low crawl through pipes, run, 
  • football-type tire run, 
  • 5 foot incline wall obstacle, small mud pit, off-road run, 
  • over-under log obstacles, run,
  • 8 foot 'A' frame wall obstacle, serious trail run, water station,
  • sand bag carry, run into mud pit,
  • longer mud pit with wall obstacle, rope climb, low crawl, squat thrusts in the pit, side straddle hops, water station,
  • sand bag carry, long off and on road run,
  • obstacles, low crawl,
  • cross finish line - arm in arm or fireman's carry.
  • Total running distance ~5 miles - longer and tougher than last year's race.

Team categories - military, public service, corporate, community and media. Top three fastest teams in each category will receive awards.  Top three fastest teams overall will receive awards.
